LiveLink Aerospace selected for the second time to participate in the Canadian Defence IDEaS Sandbox

With the continued advancement of UAS (Uncrewed Aerial Systems) technology, the genuine potential for a drone to be used maliciously cannot be ignored. The proliferation of UAS availability, affordability, complexity, and capabilities has significantly advanced the risk potential, making it increasingly difficult to defend against.

By reducing UAS visibility, minimising radio-frequency emissions, enhancing autonomy, and operating at higher speeds, potential adversaries and other persons of malicious intent are adapting UAS designs to outmanoeuvre current CUAS (Counter-Uncrewed Aerial System) capabilities, thereby rendering the majority of existing methods out of date and ineffective.

As a result, there is an urgent need to address the complexities that arise from the proliferation of UAS technology, including the need for effective risk management and mitigation strategies. Therefore, it is vital to develop solutions that can evaluate present threats and anticipate emerging UAS and CUAS capabilities while being able to detect, neutralise, or even exploit them in the future.

In 2017, Canada released its "Strong, Secure, Engaged (SSE)" defence policy. The policy outlined Canadian defence priorities over the next twenty years, identifying CUAS as one of the top priorities. It emphasises the need to develop appropriate capabilities to identify and defend against the growing threat remotely piloted systems pose.

To facilitate further innovation and development within the UAS/CUAS sector, the Innovation for Defence Excellence and Security program (IDEaS) hosts the Counter-UAS Sandbox on behalf of the Department of National Defence/Canadian Armed Forces (DND/CAF) and their defence and security partners.

What is the CUAS Sandbox?

The CUAS Sandbox event offers innovators a unique opportunity to showcase, evaluate, and test their state-of-the-art technologies in a realistic and controlled setting. This is a collaborative and proactive environment where the ultimate objective is to advance safety and security solutions and promote innovation through technology.

LiveLink Aerospace - Airspace Intelligence System

LiveLink Aerospace is extremely proud, once again, to be selected by IDEaS as one of the innovative companies to participate in the 2024 Counter-Drone Sandbox. Our Airspace Intelligence System (AIS) is a state-of-the-art air surveillance tool that provides a comprehensive, precise, and user-friendly solution to help safeguard airspace for both defensive and pro-aviation operations.

Utilising an advanced defence matrix that seamlessly integrates passive RF detection, AI-driven electro-optics, and precision passive acoustics to autonomously detect, identify and track a potential threat, producing an enhanced air picture via our HMI C2 system ZEUS CONTROL with the ability to authorise neutralisation of drone threats using our integrated effector system ORION.

Our cutting-edge technology combines custom-built hardware, bespoke firmware, and a top-of-the-line software control system to create an air defence system that can be easily deployed and adapted to any infrastructure that requires airspace monitoring.
